FAQ
How do I start playing?
‹
i We recommend that the big screen and the phones to be on the same local wifi - it will also work but less responsive on controls.
1. Open the main/big screen - from this webpage click the button "Play now" or open play.oncouch.games;
2. Start a session - once on the main screen click on the button "Start Session" to create a couch-code (room);
3. Connect your phones as controllers - if you are reading this from your phone click "Play now" or open on the phone's browser the url play.oncouch.games - you should see a numpad;
4. Enter the couch-code from the big screen and click "Join";
... at this point you are connected and ready to go.
How do I choose a game?
‹
i Follow the instructions on your phones.
The first one who connects will be the "Couch King" - he will have the full control of the gaming session.
He will choose the game while the rest will wait for him to take action.
The Couch King can swipe left-to-right to browse the games and can tap to start it.
Can I play remotely with friends?
‹
Make a video call and the one who started the session should share the screen - you could do that from a PC using apps like Skype, Zoom, etc.
The participants in the call can connect with the respective couch-code.
You could experience lag in responsivenes.
Why there is lag with the phone controls?
‹
If you are not connected to the same wifi network as the main-screen, you can experience some lag. This can be just fine for game like Trivia;
but for games more action oriented where input lag matters (like TetroBlocks),
we recomend that all the devices - TV/PC and phones - to be connected to the same local wifi network.
Can I play solo?
‹
The games will have a form of single-player mode - that could be for training purpose or getting high-scores on the board, but this platform optimised for local multiplayer experience.
